It’s been almost three years since we’ve regularly come together all around the world to discuss the state of the industry. In our 15 years of events history at TAUS, we’ve discussed many topics. From localization workflows, pricing models, adopting quality evaluation metrics in our translation workflows, quality standards, and the many different translation technologies that help translators become more efficient, productive and creative. We brainstormed on solutions for the various challenges we came across, and in turn, TAUS started to create our own suite of products and services to address some of these challenges. The world has changed over the past years, and TAUS has changed as well. We’re so pleased to get together again and present the new TAUS, along with the exciting new subsector Language Data for AI, to you at our upcoming Massively Multilingual Conference & Expo in San Jose, CA on 11, 12 and 13 October 2022.

It was a cold and dark December evening. Tina the translator was sitting behind her desk, with her hands in her hair, desperately trying to finish this one final project before she could celebrate Christmas with her loved ones. The project seems almost unbearable to get through. Over the past months, Tina is feeling less and less creative while doing her job. She’s making less money than she used to do and she feels she’s working harder than ever on the most boring projects she can think of.

With the first ever TAUS event taking place in 2005, we’ve now totaled over 25 cities worldwide, with more than 6,000 attendees. Over the years, the TAUS member program has changed significantly, from a pure think tank with annual events to a resource center for the global translation and language industry to ‘the language data network’, with services such as the DQF Dashboard and the Data Cloud. However, our events are still going strong and are the place where the people come together to discuss the latest and the greatest and make new valuable connections. In 2019, we’re turning the page in our events book and present to all our members and users a new and improved events program.

For the past years we have been organizing the TAUS Game Changers Innovation Contests, but always on the west coast of North America. It was time to look towards the East and find out more about the innovations happening in China. Nine companies signed up to join the contest, a majority of them Chinese or China-based. As always, each presenter had 6 minutes only to showcase why their perspective, idea, or technology is the most innovative and game changing. Never before have the presenters been so amazing at finishing their presentation before the 6 minutes were over.

5 ways to optimize your conference experience

Many of us go to industry events to meet new people, gain knowledge and experience or learn new skills. If you’ve ever attended a conference, you know that they can be a bit daunting, because they are high-paced, the days are long and there are lots of people. To make your conference experience a little easier and, more importantly, more rewarding (in time, energy and money) here are a few tips to make the most out of your conference experience.

In the age of exponential growth we currently live in, innovation is ubiquitous. Startups are sprouting up everywhere, all with the idea that they have discovered the technology, platform, service, process or model that covers the hole in the market we didn’t know was there yet. Inspiring innovators, genuine game changers and deadly disruptors.
