TAUS Changes Events Program
Updates to TAUS conference dates and format as well as an introduction to TAUS Talks.

Amsterdam, April 29, 2020 - TAUS, the language data network, announces changes in both the delivery and content of its events program. Due to the extended global travel restrictions for the remainder of 2020, TAUS will further postpone its largest conference in San Jose (California) until March 29-31, 2021. The Industry Leaders Forum that was scheduled to take place at the TAUS headquarters in Amsterdam on June 9 and 10 will become an innovative weeklong virtual conference aimed at delivering the blueprints for a Reinvention of Translation.

As announced already in a blog article on April 6, TAUS also launches a new theme for the events program under the title: Massively Multilingual. This new theme marks a fundamental shift from the conventional approach to localization as a process to a state of multilinguality powered by technology and language digitization.

“With the Massively Multilingual theme we want to move away from the human versus machine debate that has dominated discussions in the translation industry for a long time”, says Jaap van der Meer, director of TAUS. “We want to take an exponential view and look at the large-scale opportunities and challenges arising from a free-machine translation economy working closely in tandem with providers of value-added global content solutions and technologies, as well as linguistic and cultural experts, all in support of true world-readiness.”

Furthermore, TAUS will launch TAUS Talks, a series of videos with personalities, thought leaders, and technology gurus in the global content and tech industries. Starting in May, a new episode of TAUS Talks will be published regularly.

“TAUS Talks is a new product under TAUS Events in which we build up a catalog of videos around the Massively Multilingual theme,” says Anne-Maj van der Meer, Events Director. “These videos will be freely available for anyone to watch. They aim to provide a regular dose of inspiration and insight into what’s going on in our industry.”

In addition, TAUS will continue to run the two focused webinars: the MT Series, once a month, and the DQF Spotlight Series, once every six weeks. Both online events are open to users with special interests in respectively machine translation and language data, and quality management, and business intelligence.

About TAUS

TAUS, the language data network, is an independent and neutral industry organization. We develop communities through a program of events and online user groups and by sharing knowledge, metrics, and data that help all stakeholders in the translation industry develop a better service. We provide data services to buyers and providers of language and translation services.

The shared knowledge and data help TAUS members decide on effective localization strategies. The metrics support more efficient processes and the normalization of quality evaluation. The data lead to improved translation automation.

TAUS develops APIs that give members access to services like DQF, the DQF Dashboard, and the TAUS Data Market through their own translation platforms and tools. TAUS metrics and data are already built into most of the major translation technologies.
