Testing EPIC can be done at no cost through our free trial. To use EPIC in production, there are no upfront costs other than purchasing your credit bundle.

All our plans are very transparent, you either buy a prepaid plan that is valid for 12 months or go for a usage-based one with monthly billing based on your actual usage.

You can monitor your usage in the EPIC API Dashboard section of your TAUS account. There are options to filter over time, language pair and more. In the Payments section you can see the latest credit balance status.

If you run out of credits, you are not immediately cut off from API access as you may be in the middle of a project when this happens. However, any usage outside of a credit bundle will be invoiced to you at the end of the month. You can also purchase a new credit bundle at any time or opt for usage-based billing (which happens automatically when you don’t purchase a new plan).

If you’ve never worked with an API before and think you lack the technical knowledge, don’t worry: we’ve made our API very easy to use also with no technical knowledge. Read more about this in our blog on how to use EPIC API off the shelf.

To train a custom model, we need the following from you:

• a minimum of 25,000 reviewed and approved segments per language pair/domain, ideally including both the original MT output and the final post-edited versions. If more data is available, that is very welcome. We accept TMX, XLIFF, CSV, or other structured formats.

• any applicable glossary/style guide

• a short description of your translation workflow (MT usage, post-editing, review process, and any guidelines used).

In case you don’t have enough data, TAUS has its own repository that can be used to create custom models. Share with us any data sample that is representative of the content that you wish to score using the EPIC API, and we will take care of dataset creation with our own resources.
