In December 2014, TAUS started a new project called to give universities all around the world free access to the TAUS services and resources. The aim of this project was to bridge the gap between business and academia. Through a TAUS Academic Membership, university teachers and students gain access to the TAUS resources such as the Quality Dashboard, Academy (online courses and knowledge databases) and Data Cloud. Furthermore they can engage with professionals from the business side to learn from each other. What kind of skills are taught at university and which are actually needed ‘in the field’? What kind of talents is the industry looking for currently and how can the universities adapt their study program to that need? These and more questions and concerns alike can be discussed in the TAUS community.
Soon after we launched this project, universities from the United States, New Zealand, Spain and Ireland, among other countries, started to apply. We currently have an academic community of over 60 universities from every continent in the world, except Africa.
Now, almost three years after the launch of this project, we realize that not all our academic members are making full use of what TAUS is offering. A new project has started to encourage engagement between TAUS and the universities and subsequently between universities and businesses. In early June 2017, TAUS sent out a survey to all our academic members. The survey was comprised of five sections: on academy, on events, on user groups, on the data cloud and on the quality dashboard. We formulated concrete actions and asked the academic members 1. How they could participate and 2. How they could contribute to these actions. In the following weeks, 20 responses came in. Some of these responses were very elaborate and helpful. We've published a report that summarizes the result of this survey.
In this webinar, TAUS will give an overview of all the TAUS services and resources and will discuss their actions to bridge the gap between business and academia. There will also be lots of time for questions. Register for the webinar through the Register button in the top left corner.
